Wedding Speeches to Get Laughs

by Rob Hastings

Although a good many brides, grooms and their households are more traditional than others, and like to listen too heartfelt and civilized addresses, numerous other individuals like hearing funny wedding speeches. If your family and guests are these kinds of individuals, an interesting wedding speech is completely worthy as long as you don’t judge, humiliate, or employ base language. Remember, not important how you are related to or related to the bride or bridegroom, or if you are the bride or bridegroom and want to make interesting statements, as long as you’re diplomatic about it.

Before you ready your words, attempt to think about the wedding venue you will be in as well as those RSVP’s that came back and the ages of your guests. If they are by and large seasoned with just a tiny number of young people, don’t seek to say humorous jokes or anecdotes an older group may not understand. Try to keep from hurting anyone in your speech as this individual will not forget or may never forgive you for embarrassing them at your wedding. It’s also a good thought not to combine insider jokes with interesting or funny stories. If you’re the best man and you are aware that the bridegroom was sick at the frat party every last weekend, the wedding group and invitees don’t need to know this, so stear clear from affairs that you and only one other person know about.

If you intend to contribute a funny wedding speech, try to use a few one-liners to begin your address. A suitable gag for a man such as the father of the groom, best man or other male relative might be “behind every prosperous man, there’s a woman, and supporting every unfulfilled man, there are 2!” An entertaining gag for the mother of the groom might be, “congratulations to my boy, I’ve invariably said he had his dad’s wits because I still have mine!” Carry out some research on funny wedding gags for your words and you’ll find there are many. If you’ve been to a wedding reception recently and enjoyed some of the jokes employed there, make a mental note and seek to repeat them with a spin of your own.

Don’t forget humorous occasions that everyone is aware about is another good idea for a wedding speech to bring laughter. If most everyone at your wedding was at last year’s family get-together and the individual you are speaking about drifted off beside the family dog and everyone took pictures of that, tell everyone there about that for some laughter. Even invitees who weren’t at your family get-together will think this amusing provided you stand back from private tales that only you and on other knows, you’ll be okay.

Engage a relation or friend if you intend on giving a funny wedding speech because they can in all likelihood help you to come up with some good ideas that won’t outrage anybody. Your end is to make individuals laugh, not get red-faced, so take your time when looking into your funny wedding speech and you’ll most likely come up with numerous good themes that people will remember and express joy about.

Spring Wedding Favors: 6 Fresh Ideas That Leave Guests Smiling!

by Ashley Fauning

Spring wedding favors is just one detail that needs attention in planning your spring wedding! Spring is a time of rebirth and blossoming and your wedding favors and wedding theme will most likely represent a new beginning and a “blossoming” love as well. With your date set and your theme chosen, the selection of the perfect wedding favor can begin! Just imagine the look on your guests faces when they see that perfect little representation of your love. They will surely smile.

There are many ideas for spring wedding favors. Below is a list of a few that will spark your imagination:

1. A sure way to please your guests will be with plantable seed favors. Such an obvious representation of how love will grow and bloom into something beautiful, your guests can take the seeds home and plant them. They then will be reminded of your ceremony every time they care for the flowers. These spring wedding favors can be personalized with a thank you note for each person and used at each place setting, use them as place cards, or just insert them into your wedding program.

2. Tulip bulbs can make a fresh springtime wedding favor as well! If taken care of properly, they will bloom every spring and remind your guests over and over of you and your spouse’s love. You can put the bulbs in a plain white box, or even a sachet, and wrap with wedding color ribbon. Place at the tables, and they can serve as some major decorations! You can also personalize each one of these with a thank you note.

3. Something that may be a little more expensive, but is worth the cost in the expression of your guests, is salt and paper shakers. It will depend on your wedding theme, but you could do two peas in a pod shakers, baby chick shakers, or cherry blossom shakers. This can be an extremely unique spring wedding favor and are sure to make your guests smile and have a cherished keepsake to take home!

4. Candles are a popular choice. What is so nice about choosing these as your wedding favor is that the scents can really add to your spring theme. Candles also come in many different shapes, sizes and packaging that will fit with and add to your reception decorations. You can fill your reception hall with the same scent as the candle favors which is sure to be a hit with your guests.

5. If you are short on time and money, candy can make a wonderful spring wedding favor. Everyone at the wedding will enjoy the treat and you can match your theme in many ways by choosing shapes and colors. You can tie up with ribbon that matches your wedding colors and personalize with a nice note.

6. One last idea is whole leaf tea sachets or tins. This again is a fragrant and beautiful favor that can be added to the tables. You can choose from a variety of presentations, but you honestly cannot go wrong. Your guests will smile as they take these little favors home.

Many, many other spring wedding favor ideas are out there. Once you decide on what your theme is and what you want for a favor then the next dilemma is finding the best deal and the best place to buy from. What I am working on now is compiling a list of resources of the best online places to buy from. Here’s to your special day!

Outdoor Marriage: Seven Things You Need To Plan For

by Cheryl Bayley

If you are thinking about getting married outside, you are having a great idea as there are few things that are as romantic and pleasant, whether the chosen venue is the courtyard near your local place of worship or a secluded spot in a natural park.

In spite of all this, an outdoor wedding also brings with it a series of risks that you should plan to counter well before the ceremony. Make sure that you read the following with due consideration, and you will avoid the pitfalls that could ruin your marriage ceremony.

1) You should put the utmost care into ensuring that your guests will be comfortable before, during and after the ceremony. Of course, this applies especially to older guests, but you should also think about children, who could become unruly if bored. Don’t forget to take the weather and season into account, and to provide protection against the elements, such as a biting winter wind, or a hot summer sun.

2) Make sure that there are enough liquids for people to drink, especially water, and hot drinks such as tea or punch if it’s winter. If you want to make some alcoholic drinks available outside before or after the ceremony, a selection of cocktails is a good alternative to the usual champagne.

3) While one big advantage of outdoor weddings is that you need to decorate less, you should still make sure that the place of the ceremony is adequately set out. If in a garden, make sure that the area has been cleaned out recently, and provide for extra flowers, wreaths, and other decorations. A theater-like set in front of the couple is good to frame the event, and at night you will have to provide lighting, which could be in the form of torches.

4) Dedicate special attention to the nose and sound situation. All the guests want to hear the ceremony unfolding, so heavy surf or some other background noise are unwelcome. Use a microphone and loudspeakers if necessary.

5) Think insects. If the season is conductive to flying and stinging bugs, put out scented citronella candles and make anti-insect bite lotions available to your guests, especially if the ceremony is at dusk.

6) Don’t get caught out with rules and permits! Even if you are getting married in an out-of-way location, there may still be national park wardens that need to give out a permit before the ceremony can take place. Waste removal and photography are other areas that may be regulated, so check to avoid having to postpone the wedding at the last minute.

7) Have an alternative. The weather may turn sour, so you need to be able to hold the ceremony indoors if necessary. If you are in a somewhat built-up area you should have a hall available nearby, while if you are celebrating in a faraway place it makes a lot of sense to erect a big party tent, for all occurrences.

Placecard Holders – A Wedding Must Have

by Andrea M.

The number of details couples must deal with when planning a wedding can seem overwhelming sometimes. Many things have to be taken care of before the big day. Flowers and decorations, food to feed all the guests, and many other items must be ordered. A seating chart must be made out and place cards printed with the guests’ names. Place card holders may seem like a minor detail, yet their absence can be serious to the bride because her perfect day would be marred.

Seating charts are a necessary item for the wedding reception because there are usually a fairly large number of people present. These people are all friends of family of the bride and/or groom, yet there is no guarantee that all of these people will be able to tolerate one another’s company for an extended period. Another good reason for having a seating chart in mind is that most catering services will offer a choice of two different entrees for guests to choose from and the seating arrangement will make it easier to determine where each dish is going to be served.

Place cards are an important measure when a using a seating arrangement that ensures that everyone present knows where they are to sit during the dinner. To many people, it would be tacky to simply put the place cards in their plates to mark where they are to sit. There is also the fact that the cards are probably not sanitary enough to touch the plates considering the number of times they have been handled by different people.

Place card holders are generally a multipurpose item at the wedding reception. Often, they are also to be given to the guests as wedding favors, “thank you” gifts for attending. This makes it important to choose placecard holders that are an item that makes a good keepsake that people would be happy to receive, yet not overly expensive because several will be needed.

One item that is a good example of placecard holders that double as wedding favors is photo frames. These are small frames that hold the place cards at the reception and can have a wedding photo placed inside after those are developed. There are several different styles of this size frame from standard desktop frames to class coasters slotted to hold the place cards and wedding photos.

Some couples choose to go with something smaller that will be used as a placecard holder but not considered to be a wedding favor. The variety of small to tiny items that are slotted to hold place cards and designed to fit in with any wedding dcor without standing out greatly is vast. Even though these items are tiny and designed to go more or less unnoticed, there absence would spoil the effect of the day for the bride by detracting from the perfection of her day.

In the grand scheme of things, placecard holders may not seem very important. They are an easily overlooked item in the planning stages, yet they are a very important item.
