Great Wedding Advice For You

by Ciara Daykin

Before going on to give some wonderful wedding advice, I would like to share my best moment during a wedding. It’s the time when the newly-weds have their first dance. As I look at them all happy and glowing, I am relieved that everything has gone as well as planned and the stars of the night are finally married.

Wedding Advice on bringing it All Together

Organizing a wedding, especially a big one, involves bringing many pieces together. If you asked me for wedding advice, I would say be organized and be in control of each and every element that makes up the wedding. Effective management will help make sure that everything is moving in the right direction. If things are moving in right direction, it will ensure that the overall wedding experience is exactly the way your couple wants it to be.

“What is your best wedding advice for pulling off a grand wedding?” Now this is a question which I am often asked, especially in a scenario of a big wedding. Now if it were that simple I would have been able to give an answer in a few words. But it isn’t really. I think the best way to understand this point is if we compare a big wedding to a big movie. There are certain elements that are necessary to make a movie a success. And the same elements are necessary to make a big wedding a success. Here are the elements which are ESSENTIAL to planning a grand wedding:

1. HIRE a Wedding Planner – This is one of the best pieces of wedding advice I can give. In a big wedding, there are a lot of people who need to be taken care of. You don’t have the time and energy to do it all on your own. So let someone else do it for you.

2. A Good Director – Just like a movie needs a good director, you need a good wedding planner. If you want a large-scale wedding, you need to make sure that you hire a wedding planner with a strong team, wonderful experience, and the perfect confidence to handle your wedding look. This is especially true if you plan to have your wedding in a distinctive, different location. So hire a good wedding planner who can make you the star of your wedding.

3. Hire someone you can Bond with – If the star of the movie and the director don’t understand each other or can’t see eye-to-eye, then the movie is bound to be a failure. So take my wedding advice and hire a wedding planner you can easily connect with. Remember you will be spending a lot of your time with your wedding planner, so make sure that it is someone who understands you and who you understand.

4. Get the Help of the Supporting Cast – A movie cannot succeed without its supporting cast. And a wedding cannot be a success without the help of the bridal party and the parents. So my wedding advice here will be help them understand that they are important for the success of this wedding event and that you need them to be as helpful as possible.

5. Coordinate the Crew Efficiently – Pulling off a big wedding requires experienced and really talented vendors. Good vendors are able to work as part of a team, understand each other well and go all out to achieve that dream wedding for you. So make sure that the hired vendors are efficient and they coordinate well with each other.

6. An Incredible Script – The team maybe great but if the script is weak, the movie will not succeed. So here’s another bit of wedding advice. Be organized. Make sure that each team member has an event binder. The binder should include every bit of essential information. The itinerary should be clearly recorded. Have an hourly schedule ready. The schedule should clearly state where each vendor and each member of the bridal party will be at a particular time. The schedule will help everyone clearly understand their role and bring up any doubts or questions that might come up. The wedding planner will handle all doubts and questions at this stage. So be organized.

Whatever your ideas may be for your wedding, you must clearly understand what they are and how and where you want to accomplish them. It doesn’t really matter whether you want a small wedding or a big one. But when you sit down to plan your wedding, you need to make sure that all the wheels are perfectly aligned and working smoothly. So take my wedding advice and get the perfect wedding for yourself.

10 Ways to Ensure That Your Garden Roses Stay Fresh in the Summer

by Amy Nutt

The heat of summer might be nice for kids to splash in the pool, but it can wreak havoc on your garden roses if you don`t know how to keep them nice and fresh. Looking after your flowers means they`ll be around year after year and you`ll be able to enjoy fresh cut flowers indoors or blooming ones outside.

1. Fertilize. Using the right fertilizer is key, look for one formulated for roses. Also, be sure not to fertilize after August 15th or your roses will bloom too late in the season and be killed by the early frosts.

2. Prune. Do your pruning early in the season to allow for more blooms throughout the summer months. Snipping old flower heads and leaving five leaves below is the best way to do this. Pruning will cause the bush to grow quickly over the summer months.

3. Water. In the heat of summer, your roses will need more water than usual. A heavy watering in the morning is excellent and a light misting at night will help keep those flowers dewy fresh. Never water during the day, when droplets can concentrate the sunlight and cause the leaves and flowers to burn.

4. Soil. Having the right soil will allow the water to reach the roots of your bushes and will draw the roots down. This is why a heavy watering is good, it establishes a deep root system which means the roses will be drawing water even when the top layer of soil is dry. Look for soft, loamy soil mixed with a bit of sand for drainage.

5. Planting. To ensure that your new roses have the best chance at surviving summer, dig a 12 inch hole and fill it with compost and bonemeal. It`s a good idea to loosen the soil at the bottom of the hole, as well, to encourage deep roots.

6. Light. The majority of roses love sunlight and are quite happy with direct sunlight for 6 or so hours a day. However, it`s important to note that there are some hybrids that need shade, so check with your nursery to be sure you are planting your roses in the right place.

7. Spacing. Roses need room to breathe, so don`t crowd them into your flower bed. Allow for plenty of room for air to circulate around them and they will stay cooler and fresher during even the hottest parts of the day.

8. Spray. Unfortunately, all that warm weather is great for pests, too, so you`ll probably need to spray your roses with a repellant of some sort (home made or commercial) to keep these hungry critters at bay.

9. Mulch. Pile a little mulch around the base of your roses to hold in water and keep the roots cool. This is a very simple task that can be done throughout the summer as the mulch is dispersed.

10. Hose. Using the right hose is important. You want one that is flexible enough you can snake it between plants and water the roots.

Roses aren`t as finicky as many people think, especially these days, but they do need some special care for those hot summer months. Taking the care needed to keep the plants fresh and cool will result in healthier roses and fresher blooms throughout the summer, so you can enjoy your flowers all year long. Healthy roses during the summer can provide a myriad of opportunities. It really isn’t that difficult to look after roses if you follow the ten tips given above.

10 Important Wedding Reception Planning Tips

by Karen Taylor

The starting point to a successful wedding and reception is to understand that this is once-in-a-lifetime and thus requires the right tools and strategies in its execution. To help you get started, here are a number of tips:

1. Assign your key person. Vitally important for this special occasion, assigning a key person to attend through all the wedding details can provide a big relief on the part of both the bride and the groom. A reliable key person ensures that everything is well taken cared of from the schedule, reception, location, caterer, music, bakery, florist, limo driver, and wedding party down to the guests.

2. Pre-plan & have a checklist. Use that back-up person and make sure details are not overlooked on that special day. There are so many to remember, you’ll want to make sure nothing gets left behind so write up a list. It can be as simple as a small notebook that you carry in your purse, adding details as they come up in your planning.

3. Delegate responsibilities. Tradition normally permits the participation of family members in managing the various facets of wedding and reception. This is good because you can free yourself doing all things in your hands. You also spare yourself from too much stress. In case where you need to check on a particular aspect, all you have to do is inquire with your people.

4. Hire proven professionals and secure your date with a deposit. From your flowers to wedding cake to caterer to music, look for recommendations or testimonials from previous clients. You don’t want to discover the horrors of hiring a “wanna be” for your special day!

5. Do not forget yourself. Amidst all the potential stress during the pre-planning stage, do not forget to pamper yourself. You can indulge in a good body massage, facial treatment, manicure, pedicure or whatever you wish that can make your day stress-free and enjoyable. Even better if you do this while the event is on its way and you can treat this as a good opportunity to bond with the family members. Invite your bridesmaids, the mother of your future husband, your sisters, and your mother, to take part in the fun.

6. Double-check everything and do not be too complacent. About one or two weeks before the wedding day, remember to make last minute phone calls to ensure that nothing gets neglected or forgotten. Most often, even if you think that everything is perfectly ready, you just discover that something else needs to be adjusted or modified. Do not fall into this trap.

7. Secure the rings. Do not forget to check your wedding rings. You wouldn’t want to panic on the day itself by finding out they’re missing! This may sound absurd but because of their size and since younger ring bearers would carry them, they are more susceptible to being lost. List that out as a priority on your final checklist.

8 Keep receipts & records. This is a great task for one responsible person. Then on the big day, you can quickly and easily determine who’s been paid & how much is still owed, and can also serve to keep track of your memories going forward.

9. Security. This is the 1 thing that gets overlooked for a wedding. It’s easy to focus on everything else, but make sure (especially if you’re event is in more than one location) that any items left unattended are secure. Even beautiful flowers and decorations can be pillaged if left vulnerable – don’t find that out the hard way!

10 Remember thank-yous. There are so many people involved in a wedding production, don’t forget the gifts or cards to let them know they’re appreciated. Just like wedding gift thank-you cards, you can begin writing these well in advance of your wedding – have your bridesmaids help too.

Find Your Soul Mate – Online!

by Ferda Shinsky

Did you touch a computer today? Most people in today’s world spend a portion of their day on the internet, whether it be checking emails, listening to music, research, or just for fun. Why not spend a little of that time meeting your soul mate? There are many websites that promote online dating, all of which are extremely simple to join; which is why the online dating world is so successful now.

If you browse the internet you will find hundreds of online dating com websites out there. It is free to join with some of these online dating sites. However some online dating com websites charge a nominal fee to become a member. I would say it is worth to pay this small amount instead of wasting our valuable time in identifying legitimate online dating service websites.

If you decide to join an online dating website, there are a few steps that need to be followed to have a successful time. One is by making a very accurate and descriptive profile that portrays you best. This makes it so you are interesting, thus attracting members of the opposite sex to want to learn more about you. A simple warning: Do not use false information, as it only causes problems in the end.

Long term relationships have one key ingredient – trust. This relates to the online dating world in the sense of personal information. Never give out your personal information carelessly as it could end up in the wrong hands. All personal information needs to given out sparingly throughout the online dating process.

A great online service is through eHarmony; a popular, well known match making website. Results are often great on this site and it introduces you to hundreds of people in your local area along with around the state and country who have the same interests as you. By researching and looking into each candidate, you can simply choose which members you would like to chat with and learn more about. The more you chat with them, the more options open up; like learning all of their interests, who they are, how they act, and so much more.

Once you have found your suitable match you can get closer to him/her. You can exchange personal details once you are sure that the person is trust worthy. You can even chat using webcams. At one stage you would like to meet him/her in person. You need to be a bit careful during your first few dates. It is safe if you follow these safety tips.

Never meet your potential match in an isolated location and keep your friends up to date during your date so they know what is going on. This way, if something would happen to go wrong, your friends would know and be able to come get you or get help. Keeping them in the loop at all times is a great way to ensure your safety and to rest assured you will have a good time.

There is no possible way to deny it – the internet world is growing. Online dating is a piece of this rising network and is a simple, reasonable, time saving method to meet your soul mate. By using a website you can meet hundreds of people with the same interests as you and narrow that choice down to find the perfect match. That match is for you, your one and only; find your soul mate today.
