How to Plan a Celebrity-Type Wedding Reception On A Small Budget

by Samantha Jones

Have you wanted to have an extravagant wedding reception but had to scrap the idea because of money? Well you don’t have to give up on it. You wedding day should be all you want it to be so you have no regrets when you remember it years later. You should make your wedding to be very memorable and joyous for you. In spite of what you think, you can have a celebrity-type reception without wiping out your whole bank account. By utilizing a few nontraditional resources you can pull off a wedding reception that will stand up to even the celebrity ones, but at budget prices.

Get Organized

Before you can accomplish your celebrity-style wedding reception you have to become organized. Make a decision on what things you want to include. Don’t worry about how much everything will cost yet. As you start shopping for everything you will determine if it is all doable or not. The things you put on your list should be the location of the reception, what decorations are needed, food, drinks, centerpieces, place cards, and the music you want.

Enlist the People You Know for Help

If you want to save money on your wedding reception-skip hiring a professional. These individuals are typically highly skilled in what they do and their fees prove it! Your best bet is to find people who are willing to help you for free. You shouldn’t have to look further than your family and friends. Enlist the services of as many people as you can. This includes children. Children can be especially helpful with repetitive crafts, so include them in your wedding reception plans. Don’t wait until the last minute to solicit assistance. Let people know way in advance that you will need them to help you with your wedding reception.

Time to Shop

Grab your shopping list and head out the door to shop. The most expensive thing on your list will be deciding on the location of this wedding reception. The more inexpensive ideal locations include church halls or restaurants. If you select a certain restaurant see if you can use your own glasses, flatware, and plates. You can get these things rather cheaply for under a hundred dollars depending on how large your guest list is. Make the guest choose from 2 or 3 choices of food (when they RSVP) to make it simpler. When you have a plate count the caterers charge less. For an added bonus place a dish of sweet treats on each table. Go to craft shops or hobby type stores for the supplies you will need for centerpieces and other decorations you want. You can find ideas on all of it and how to show your helpers how to make them. Place cards are not imperative, but they do help the guest know where to sit if you are assigning seats. These can be made on a computer with a greeting card software program. And then printed using you printer. Unless one of your helpers can be a deejay or they are part of a live band skip that kind of music. Go with CD selections of your favorite music instead for a really inexpensive choice here.

Reward your Helpers

A wedding dinner with the wedding party (bride, groom, bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents) just before the wedding ceremony is traditional. It is a good idea to either invite your wedding reception helpers to this dinner or to a separate fun event. At this event you should show your appreciation for helping make your wedding reception the best ever!
